Los Angeles bass-and-drums duo Paradise Vultures creates a sound that can best be described as “Dirty, doomy, desert disco.” Comprised of bassist and vocalist Tommy Senter and drummer Matty Barreca, Paradise Vultures has existed in various iterations since 2017, when multi-instrumentalist Tommy Senter released the first EP, “Gourmet Carrion,” under the moniker. After various lineup changes, Paradise Vultures began its transition to its current lineup when Senter met drummer Matty Barreca in a North Hollywood Tiki Bar in 2020. The two bonded over their mutual love of drums and common musical influences and quickly became a powerhouse of rhythmic synergy, with Senter on bass and lead vocals and Barreca on the drum kit. After parting ways with their guitarist, the pair decided to pare down the lineup to a two-piece and haven’t looked back since. Known for their engaging, dynamic live shows, the duo is equal parts candid and cynically humorous onstage, with a focus on infectious melodies, deeply personal lyrics, and effortlessly danceable grooves.
