Certain Death
A nostalgic stoner metal artist.
Certain Death is a love letter to an era of amp towers, flashy guitars, phasers, excess recording budgets, fuzzy dice, and the almighty LP. Born in the darkest depths of the pandemic in mid-2020, the band was, initially, simply an outlet for lead singer and guitar player Henry Black to express individual loss at a time of generational trauma and personal disarray. In 2023, Certain Death truly began, welcoming the addition of Matt White on guitar, and Jared Schapker on bass, to go along with long time member CJ Young on drums. Together, this new line up released Certain Death’s debut LP Strange Garden in October 2024. Since then, they have kept busy recording new music (To The Sea, White Clouds) and touring the Midwest and Southeast US in the summer of 2025. Picture by Kate Cassise
