Karim Baggili
Karim Baggili, born in 1976, is a Belgian composer, guitarist, and oud player. Inspired by Mark Knopfler's playing, he started playing electric guitar at sixteen and has been composing ever since. At the age of twenty, he was introduced to the world of flamenco and the perfection of Paco de Lucia's playing fascinated him. Self-taught, he worked hard on the different techniques of the flamenco guitar. At the same time, during a trip to Jordan, he acquired an oud and added new sounds to his compositions. Each album compliments the one after it and builds on previous music:: Douar, Cuatro con Cuatro, Lea & Kash, Kali City, Apollo You Sixteen, and Apollo You Sixteen Part II. His passion for music has led him to many projects as a composer or arranger. Whether it be CDs, short films, documentaries, and more recently feature films. He has many concerts to his credit on beautiful stages, small, intimate, or large in Belgium or abroad. Samaritaine, Ferme du Biéreau, Centre Culturel de Huy, Festival d'Art de Huy, Festival Paroles d'Hommes, Festival Esperanzah, Francofolies, Ancienne Belgique, Green Note in London, Dubai, Kuwait, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands to name a few.
