Matamoska!

Formed in the infancy of Los Angeles’ DIY ska-punk movement, Matamoska has spent over two decades creating a sound that fuses Latin influences with raw punk. Rooted in East Los Angeles, the band has built a global underground following while staying true to their community and culture. The current lineup features Jose Padilla (lead vocals/guitar), Esteban Flores (keys), Eddy “Crooks” Rodriguez (bass), Jovan Loera (tenor sax), Robert Verdugo (trombone), Ivan Lopez (trumpet), Lucas Jakobi (drums), Ray Vargas Jr. (lead guitar), and AJ Acdan (alto/bari sax). They frequently collaborate with friends and scene veterans including Javier Portillo (South Central Skankers), Jeremy Hunter and Emily Williams of Skatune Network and JER, and more. Over the years, Matamoska has shared stages with ska and punk heavyweights such as Panteón Rococó, Sekta Core, The Slackers, Royal Club, Hepcat, Tijuana No!, Out of Control Army, The Toasters, Reel Big Fish, Inspector, The Interrupters, Ska-P, and Los Pericos. In 2024, Matamoska released their self-titled album through Bad Time Records to critical acclaim, and continues to carry the sounds of East Los Angeles to stages around the world.
