GOSTO
Roel GOSTO Vermeer started out as a self-taught attic room producer, by combining hip-hop-like beats with his own voice. His debut album Memory Ivy (2016) put him on the map in one fell swoop and took him from Germany to Japan – from De Wereld Draait Door to shows with Jamie Lidell, Oscar en de Wolf and Thomas Dybdahl. The second album ‘What do You Mean, You Need a Color TV’ (2019) brought more soul, lightness and tempo to the music. This was partly due to the collaboration with Will Knox and Benny Sings. 10 million streams further GOSTO went to the drawing board and thus returned to the origin of his passion. Producing intimate yet accessible and catchy songs. What started as something for himself has now grown into something he is so passionate about that he wants to share it with as many people as possible. In the new music, GOSTO’s own sound resonates in a new way. The instruments are recorded and edited analogously, keeping the imperfection of the recordings intact. Characteristic, however, is the combination of this imperfection with a great deal of attention to detail. The music is playful and organic, warm and melodic, groovy and dreamy & nostalgic.
