HEAVYCHEST is a music project from Aotearoa, New Zealand. Founded in Tāmaki Makaurau (auckland) 2015 by songwriter/producer Andre Smith. An obsession with song writing started at young age first in an all boys choir & growing up in a musical household Andre was surrounded by a diverse range of sounds and creativity being handed a guitar by his father gave life to expression through music. Since the debut album ‘PREHEAT’ in 2017 the project has taken many directions and released a range of music. He is currently operating as a solo artist running intimate shows and releasing self produced music. Most recently spending February 2025 in France recording music at an arts residency.
