Jasmine Vegas spent the 1980’s in New York City where she created her punk clothing line ‘Guns & Butter’. In 1987 she began performing in the East Village at performance art venues, collaborating with Marc Ribot, Meredith Monk, MTV, Mader . . . Landing in Paris in 1994, she founded Jasmine Bande, an outstanding punk-jazz-rock-operatic trio performing all over the city’s flourishing music scene. Having recorded three studio albums (didjoohaffun, Time, Cocorico) with her erstwhile bands, Jasmine Vegas is now producing herself as a solo artist: ‘Jerk’ (2020), a rap tour-de-force, and the hauntingly beautiful ‘Depressed’ (2021). Also relased in 2022, the mythic album, ‘encore’, recorded in 2000 with the legendary JASMINE BANDE !!
Jasmine Vegas creates a diverse sound, blending melancholic folk, atmospheric soundscapes, and spoken word, often incorporating punk and jazz influences from her earlier work.
