Michael Benedikt

Florian Egli (aka Michael Benedikt) is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer with a strong foundation in jazz and an openness to a wide range of musical influences. As a saxophonist and bassist, he performs internationally with diverse ensembles - from experimental jazz groups to indie-pop bands and genre-blending collaborations. His musical voice is defined by curiosity, sonic depth, and a keen sense for dynamics and form. As a bandleader, Egli continually brings new and distinctive projects to life, including several award-winning formations such as @Weird Beard. Under the solo moniker Michael Benedikt, he explores his creative vision in the studio, crafting soundscapes that reflect his personal aesthetic and production approach. The music of Michael Benedikt can be described as Nu Jazz with Lo-Fi and Psychedelic influences. Beyond his artistic work, Egli is actively involved in shaping and supporting the Swiss music scene. He co-founded the jazz newsletter Jazztripp, served as a board member at the Moods Jazz Club, and helps foster community and visibility for local musicians through his ongoing commitment to JazzBaragge.
