Parachute Words

Inspired by the many bedroom musicians found all over the internet, Martino Gasparrini started Parachute Words as a solo project in a London basement back in 2016. Back then, amateurish ambition and confused commitment to the craft lead to writing, recording and releasing lo-fi albums onto Bandcamp at a frantic rate. Between honing his skills and working whatever strange freelance jobs he could find, Martino managed to ramshackle the first iteration of Parachute Words fit for the stage which managed to gig in as many small venues that London would allow them to play. Back then, PW consisted of a four piece with Martino on guitar and vocals, Ollie Cox on bass Tony Lea on guitar, and George Barker on drums. 

 Twelve self-released albums and a mix of successful and less successful gigs later, the band had to reorganise and change in the wake of the 2020 pandemic. Instead of a songwriter vehicle for Martino, the band morphed into a confident 5 piece with Lea Francis on drums, Ralph Heseltine on bass, Geroge Harvey on guitar and Rosa Fisher on violin. These last two years the group have recorded two albums dedicated to the London they call home. Taking advantage of the band’s musical chemistry, they were recorded in a studio with everyone playing their instruments live in front of each other. Taking in stride their indie rock forbearers and having a sound that makes full use of the violin, Parachute Words continue to make their own music exactly how they want to make it.
