Zirkel
"Instead of studying art, we just founded a band!" Started as a trio, later mutated to a quartet, Zirkel feel at home in krautrock realms, wavy dance-punk and bass-heavy 90s sounds. Speaking of bass, all band members can actually play it and like to do so. But in general you'll find Caroline "Cali" d'Orville (CALI, Peter MuffinTrio) texting and on mic and synth and sometimes on guitar, multi-instrumentalist Eva Dörr (Akademische Betriebskapelle) on drums, Sophia Sadzakov on bass and often laughing and Nadja Weber on guitar and effects - because it just had to be. "Kreis" is the first and last official release of the bandprojekt Zirkel. Recorded in the summer of 2019 by Julian Knoth (@Die Nerven ) in the rehearsal cellar at the Stuttgart Art Academy, the five songs fermented under the hands of Thorsten Puttenat (Putte & Edgar) to the listening delicacies that are now finally released on cassette. Somewhere between Western Pop, Reggae-Downbeats and dark Psych-Waves, the songs come along sometimes poppy euphoric, sometimes oppressive psychedelic, mostly reduced and very direct.
