Aleph Null

Aleph Null is an alias under Josiah Kirk that derives its name from mathematics as the first ordinal number in a superset of infinite numbers. From the ground up, Aleph Null takes an independent angle in production, mixing, and instrumentation. Featuring eerie synthesizers, heavily electronic drums and dynamic bytes of sound, it can be hard to pin-point what makes it, or how. His latest 2023 debut, Hi Mom displays a wide range of electronic music while moving into ambience and incorporating distorted guitars that stay true to the soundscapes of the previous releases. This album features local musicians who were quintessential to the key moments. Songs like Testing Two which combine the grotesque guitar-playing of Tony Gross from PissPocket with the aforementioned synthetic backdrop known with Aleph Null. Track to track, the standard seems to move as the artist focuses more on creating than appealing to record labels and industry. With singles like Twig from 2020 or the EP Instant Food released in 2019, a listener can begin to understand how unapologetically homemade and Lo-Fi the music is.
