An underground post-rock act.
Magic Numbers, the fourth release by instrumental Brooklyn based rock band Apollo's Ghost arrives today!!!!! The culmination of a years worth of work. The band decided to ditch their usual haunts and recorded at Rancho De la Luna out in Joshua Tree, California in the fall of 2023 with famed rock and roller David Catching (Queens of the Stoneage, Eagles of Death Metal, Earthlings?, etc). "Set and setting are everything and in making this record at such a reverent spot it only served to amplify the energy of the band". Mixed by Grammy award winning producer Diko Shoturma and at Big Orange Sheep studio in Brooklyn, NY. This record represents the height of songwriting by this instrumental three piece and as they flex their songwriting muscles it's apparent that there's a deep well of influence to be mined. A wide pallet of color and shape come together to form this six song collection of idiosyncratic rock and roll. From the hard hitting "Death Whistle" to the bombastic melodies and shapeshifting riffs of opening track "Lucy", there appears to be a little something for everyone in this succinct, yet somehow sprawling offering. Apollo's Ghost is a three piece instrumental band hailing from Brooklyn, NY. Ben Curtis on guitar, Ray Mazza on drums, David Sutkin on bass.
Apollo's Ghost plays instrumental post-rock and math rock, blending driving rhythms with complex, atmospheric guitar work.
