Cambridge's Best Boy Band Cambridge is internationally acclaimed for many things. The grand architecture of its illustrious university, leisurely punting trips along the River Cam, Runescape - the list is as lengthy as it is distinguished. However, the most beautiful and shining gem of its crown is undoubtedly BANGKITAN, Cambridge’s Best Boy Band. Of course, ‘boy band’ isn’t a particularly accurate nomenclature for the post-hardcore outfit. Formed in an industrial estate practice room in the summer of 2022 and consisting of mullets, bad tattoos, sweaty upper lips, and a case of early onset male pattern baldness, the band makes the label work overtime. But it's the symbolism that’s important. In a UK alternative scene where their contemporaries regurgitate the same tired platitudes and stoic stage personas, BANGKITAN don’t just dare to be different; they blossom in the cracks between genres. With just a handful of tracks released to their name so far, BANGKITAN have already demonstrated their individuality, from the scorching riff and soaring vocals of ‘LIVE LAUGH LOVE’ to the heinous riffage of ‘DIABOLIST’. Having enjoyed support from BBC Introducing and secured the accolade of Kerrang! Radio Fresh Blood Artist of the Week, there is a clear fire on the horizon for BANGKITAN.
