Dresdner Kammerchor

The Dresdner Kammerchor is one of the leading choirs in Germany, acclaimed for its uniquely bright and clear sound. Since its foundation in 1985 by Hans-Christoph Rademann it has become firmly established on the German and European musical scene. The ensemble specializes in Early Music and Baroque with initiatives such as the first complete recording of Heinrich Schütz and a continuing interest in promoting the musical legacy of central Germany. Recordings of works of Schütz, Bach, Händel, Hasse, Heinichen and Zelenka have been honoured with numerous prizes including the German Record Critics’ Award of the Year 2016. In 2020 the final volume of the acclaimed complete recording of works by Heinrich Schütz was awarded the OPUS KLASSIK 2020, one of Germany’s most important prices in classical music. The choral-symphonic repertoire of the Classical and Romantic periods forms another main focus of the choir’s work. Equally important is a cappella literature from the 19th and 20th centuries by composers such as Reger, Schnittke, Krenek, Poulenc and Berlinski. Frequent cooperation with renowned orchestras and conductors underscore the reputation of the choir, among them Giovanni Antonini, Riccardo Chailly, Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph Prégardien, Omer Meir Wellber, Jos van Immerseel and the ensembles Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Bamberger Symphoniker, Concerto Köln, Akademie für Alte Musik, Wroclav Baroque Orchestra and Anima Eterna Brugge.
