An underground r&b artist.
Born and raised in Amsterdam, JaniCess has been making music since her early school days. What began as writing and singing children’s songs soon grew into a lifelong passion for storytelling through music. From singing in church choirs and performing at school events to competing in Dutch talent shows like The Voice of Holland, JaniCess has been shaping her unique sound step by step. She was also part of the Passion Gospel Choir and performed at the opening of Amsterdam’s Public Library. With roots in Aruba and Suriname, her music blends influences of R&B, soul, jazz, Afro, and pop, reflecting both her heritage and her diverse musical upbringing. Inspired by powerful voices like Ciara, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Sevyn Streeter, and Victoria Monét, JaniCess creates songs that are deeply emotional, authentic, and unapologetically expressive. Her debut release, “9 to 5,” tells the story of being done with love, only to find it returning unexpectedly. Through her lyrics, JaniCess lays her emotions, offering listeners an honest glimpse into her world. JaniCess is more than an artist; she’s a storyteller with a voice that bridges vulnerability and strength, rhythm and soul.
JaniCess plays a smooth blend of R&B, soul, and Afro-pop, shaped by her Aruban and Surinamese heritage.
