An underground country blues act.
Splitting their time between Melbourne and Berlin since forming in 2020, Kino Motel have honed their sound and developed a somewhat unique style they call ‘Beach Goth’. Described by critics as a combination of Australian Gothic, Slacker-Rock, Post-Punk and Cinematic Noir, the duo, comprised of Ed Fraser and Rosa Mercedes, have played extensively across Europe and Australia, releasing numerous singles before putting out their acclaimed debut album Visions in 2024. Kino Motel are now excited to release their sophomore album 'Symbolism' on October 23 2026. Recorded in Melbourne and produced in Berlin, Symbolism introduces Kino Motel’s next era with brooding, cinematic flair. The album is sunlit but uneasy, romantic but frayed, cinematic but scrappy. If Visions introduced their world, Symbolism sets to deepen it, not as a strict concept record but as a collection of moments that gain power in accumulation. Each song stands on its own, but together they create a set of signs, fragments, and emotional codes. “It is wonderful music.” - Radioeins “Sprawling, ominous, cinematic.” - XS Noize “Kino Motel are the real deal.” - The Wild Is Calling
