Sarah Nicolls has a unique #insideoutpiano, designed to make playing directly on the strings both much easier and more fun for audiences to watch. She writes her own music - "simple melodies shrouded in strange sounds" - using this instrument to the full. She is building a lightweight Standing Grand as Future Piano, launching October 2023, supported by Innovate UK's Women in Innovation programme. Sign up at www.futurepiano.co.uk for news. Sarah has also toured across the world as a classical pianist playing the music of hundreds of living composers and spent many years with interactive technology, exploring the physical performance of electronic sound. See www.sarahnicolls.com for past and current work.
