Wilco Prinsen

Amsterdam-based producer and live musician Wilco Prinsen crafts open-ended hypnotic landscapes of melodic layers, tension and slow transformation. His instrumental electronic music bridges genres such as electronica, indie, ambient, with snippets of kraut, leftfield techno and IDM. His love for gritty, noisy and organic sounds originates from years of performing as a guitarist, experimenting with analog effect pedals and driven tube amplifiers. In a quest for more freedom, wonder, and a new sonic palette, the guitar has given way to a modular synthesizer. Both his productions and live performances are attempts to make space for live energy, with freedom for improvising, sculpting sound and arranging in the moment, on the foundation of deliberate and refined melodies, sounds and compositions. In 2026, his debut Inter // Esse EP is released on the cooperative label Anderworld Records, a new project by Amsterdam Alternative. The 6-track release is Prinsen’s first document of his musical explorations with the modular synthesizer and is based on both live and studio recordings from the period 2017–2025.
