Developed by Stefan Schultze and the Distributed Ensemble, »The Time Between Us« extends Schultze’s exploration of improvisation and electronically mediated composition. The Distributed Ensemble uses networked space to turn physical separation into a compositional condition, allowing sound to travel between locations and accumulate in a shared performance space. The musicians occupy different stations across the venue, interacting through machine learning, musical agent systems, and adaptive spatial synthesis.
