The Syros Jazz Festival presents the Barakos Orchestra, a 12-member ensemble formed in 2024 on the initiative of Nikos Sidirokastritis. The orchestra was created to honor Giorgos Barakos, a figure of great importance to jazz and the broader music scene in Greece. The group features some of the finest improvisers from the Greek jazz world, performing a tribute that bridges the legacy of the past with contemporary jazz exploration.
