Los Angeles Philharmonic performs Mahler and John Williams at Walt Disney Concert Hall with pianist Emanuel Ax. Tickets on Mood.
Anna Handler, a Dudamel Fellow, leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Mahler’s monumental First Symphony, often called "Titan." This performance also features renowned pianist Emanuel Ax performing a concerto by legendary film composer John Williams. The work is described as a velvety yet complex piece that draws inspiration from the history of jazz, referencing the styles of Art Tatum, Bill Evans, and Oscar Peterson. Mahler's symphony serves as a powerful exploration of life, death, and triumph, filled with natural imagery and intense crescendos.
