Gautier Capuçon and Frank Braley perform the complete cycle of Beethoven cello sonatas in a single evening. Landmark chamber music cycle. Lineup on Mood.
Gautier Capuçon and Frank Braley, a duo of nearly thirty years, perform the complete Beethoven cello sonatas in a single evening. The programme features five works spanning Beethoven's creative periods, from the early Op. 5 sonatas to the mature Op. 102. Capuçon describes these works as pillars of the repertoire, marking Beethoven as the only composer to write so extensively for this instrumentation. The performance highlights the duo's ability to fuse their individual sounds, with Braley's piano responding to Capuçon's wooden cello tones.
