An underground minimalism night.
The LSO Percussion Ensemble celebrates the 90th birthday of Steve Reich, a master of minimalism. The concert features three of his defining works: Music for Pieces of Wood, which explores rhythm in its purest form, and the interlocking textures of Quartet and Sextet. Formed of musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra alongside specialized collaborators, the ensemble is uniquely equipped to handle the exceptional rhythmic precision and drive required by Reich's pulse-driven compositions.
