Jason Kunwar presents a performance drawing on Sangini, a traditional Nepalese women's vocal heritage shared during communal gatherings and festivals. Utilizing field recordings and live instrumental accompaniment, he explores songs from oral traditions of eastern rural Nepal that voice women's experiences of seclusion, longing, and the challenges of married life. Rather than reconstructing a single definitive version of Sangini, Kunwar works with songs, memories, and fragments preserved by village elders, bringing the voices of mothers, sisters, grandmothers, and daughters into the present.
