Ayanna Witter-Johnson

Outstanding vocalist, cellist and composer Ayanna Witter-Johnson is coming to Jassmine for the first time. Nominated for a MOBO award and praised for her unique blend of soul, jazz, folk and Caribbean influences, the artist will present material from her latest album New Roots. This is an exceptionally personal story about identity, memory, spirituality and the search for one's roots. In her compositions, Ayanna combines mesmerizing vocals with masterly cello playing, creating a sound full of emotional depth and subtle strength. Songs such as „You Can Have Everything”, „Equinox” and „Pioneers” lead listeners through reflections on heritage, history, freedom and finding balance in a changing world. The artist has collaborated with Andrea Bocelli, Peter Gabriel, Nitin Sawhney and Anoushka Shankar, and her work has been supported by Gilles Peterson and Jools Holland. The concert at Jassmine will be the only opportunity in Poland to meet one of the most versatile and original figures on the contemporary music scene.
