A Cappella-Events in Amsterdam

A cappella is a performance style originating from the Italian phrase meaning in the manner of the chapel, initially referring to choral music performed without instrumental accompaniment. It relies exclusively on the human voice to provide melody, harmony, and rhythmic drive, often utilizing vocal percussion or beatboxing to emulate traditional instruments. While rooted in religious traditions, contemporary a cappella spans diverse moods from solemn liturgical chants to high-energy pop arrangements characterized by intricate vocal layering. Its rhythmic structure is highly flexible, moving from fluid rubato to rigid, synchronized grooves, effectively bridging the gap between classical choral music and modern vocal group performance.
