Chaotic Hardcore-Events in Amsterdam

Chaotic hardcore, often interchangeably called mathcore, emerged during the 1990s as a volatile fusion of hardcore punk and technical metalcore. The genre is defined by its extreme dissonance, frantic tempo fluctuations, and complex rhythmic structures that frequently incorporate odd time signatures and sudden, jarring breakdowns. Utilizing heavily distorted guitars, aggressive percussion, and abrasive screamed vocals, the music evokes a sense of calculated instability and visceral aggression. While it shares technical DNA with progressive metal, it retains the raw, DIY energy of the underground punk scene, serving as a more erratic and dissonant alternative to traditional melodic metalcore and standard hardcore styles.
