Circuit-Events in Amsterdam

Circuit house emerged from the LGBTQ+ club scenes of the late 1980s and early 1990s as a high-energy evolution of tribal and hard house music. This genre is defined by its powerful 4/4 kick drums, heavy synthesized basslines, and repetitive, often anthemic vocal samples that cater to large-scale dance events. Musically, it prioritizes long, dramatic buildups followed by explosive percussive drops, maintaining a consistent tempo typically ranging from 128 to 135 beats per minute. While sharing DNA with mainstream progressive house, circuit music distinguishes itself through a more aggressive, driving rhythm and a darker, more industrial aesthetic tailored for marathon parties.
