Corrido-Events heute Abend in Amsterdam

The corrido is a traditional Mexican narrative song form that emerged in the 19th century as a primary means of historical documentation and cultural expression. Typically performed with acoustic instrumentation such as the bajo sexto, guitar, and accordion, it utilizes rhythmic patterns based on the 2/4 polka or 3/4 waltz time signatures. The genre's thematic content often focuses on social issues, historical events, or heroic deeds, maintaining a mood that ranges from celebratory to profoundly melancholic. Semantically situated within the Regional Mexican umbrella, the corrido serves as a folk ballad precursor to modern sub-genres like narcocorrido and sierreño, emphasizing lyrical storytelling over complex melodic structures.
