Hands Up-Events in Amsterdam

Hands Up is a high-energy electronic dance music subgenre that emerged in the early 2000s, primarily originating in Germany as a commercial evolution of Eurodance and Hard Trance. Characterized by its signature supersaw synthesizer leads and heavy off-beat basslines, the genre typically operates at a brisk tempo between 140 and 150 BPM. Its instrumentation often features pitch-shifted female vocals and melodic, uplifting chord progressions designed for maximum impact in club environments. Semantically, it occupies a middle ground between the melodic sensibilities of Trance and the aggressive rhythmic drive of Hardstyle. This genre remains defined by its euphoric mood and consistent use of a driving four-on-the-floor kick drum pattern.
