Spanish Jazz-Events diese Woche in Amsterdam

Emerging from the fusion of American jazz with traditional Spanish folk and flamenco during the mid-20th century, Spanish jazz was significantly shaped by pioneers like Pedro Iturralde. The instrumentation typically features acoustic guitars, piano, upright bass, and saxophones, often incorporating hand claps and cajón for a distinct percussive texture. Characterized by complex syncopated time signatures, the music shifts between standard swing and traditional flamenco palos such as bulerías or tientos. The mood ranges from intensely passionate and melancholic to vibrant and celebratory, bridging the improvisational freedom of post-bop with the rhythmic discipline of Iberian heritage, while maintaining a strong semantic link to Latin jazz and Flamenco jazz.
