Dutch Death Metal-Events dieses Wochenende in Athen

Emerging in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Dutch death metal is a regional subgenre of extreme metal centered around the Netherlands that refined the sonic foundations of the Florida scene. The instrumentation typically involves heavily down-tuned electric guitars, rapid-fire double-kick drumming, and deep guttural vocals, often emphasizing a specific blend of technicality and rhythmic groove. Unlike its more chaotic international counterparts, this style frequently incorporates atmospheric doom-laden passages and intricate melodic structures, resulting in an oppressive yet controlled mood. It remains semantically distinct as a bridge between raw early death metal and the more polished European metal styles, established by pioneering acts like Pestilence, Sinister, and Asphyx.
