Early Avant Garde-Events dieses Wochenende in Athen

Early avant-garde music emerged in the early 20th century as a radical departure from traditional tonality, rooted in the experimental movements of Futurism and Serialism. Instrumentation often spans prepared pianos, early electronic oscillators, and found industrial objects, challenging conventional definitions of musical sound. The genre is characterized by irregular rhythms, dissonant harmonies, and a cerebral, often unsettling mood that prioritizes intellectual exploration over melodic accessibility. This period laid the critical groundwork for later developments in musique concrète, noise, and contemporary classical music, fundamentally bridging the gap between sound art and structured composition while rejecting the commercial norms of its era.
