Irish Punk-Events in Barcelona

Emerging in the late 1970s and early 1980s through the pioneering influence of bands like The Pogues, Irish punk fuses traditional Celtic folk music with the raw energy of punk rock. The genre is characterized by a blend of electric guitars, bass, and drums alongside traditional acoustic instruments like the tin whistle, fiddle, banjo, accordion, and bagpipes. It typically features high-tempo, driving rhythms influenced by traditional jigs and reels, creating a rowdy, beer-soaked, and communal atmosphere suitable for both mosh pits and pub singalongs. The mood oscillates between anthemic defiance and melancholic storytelling, bridging the gap between historical folk narratives and the rebellious, DIY ethos of modern punk music.
