Makina-Events diesen Monat in Barcelona

Originating in the Spanish regions of Valencia and Catalonia during the early 1990s, Makina is a high-energy subgenre of hardcore techno characterized by its rapid-fire tempo ranging from 150 to 180 beats per minute. The instrumentation relies heavily on Roland TB-303 synthesizers, driving 4/4 kicks, and high-pitched melodic stabs, often incorporating euphoric vocal samples or sped-up pitches. Musically, it bridges the gap between Belgian New Beat and UK Happy Hardcore, maintaining a frantic yet uplifting mood designed for high-intensity club environments. As a cornerstone of the "Ruta de los Bacalaos" scene, it remains distinct for its syncopated synth-lines and aggressive yet melodic structure that influenced later hard dance movements globally.
