Musique Concrète-Events dieses Wochenende in Barcelona

Musique concrète is an avant-garde form of electronic music originating in France in the late 1940s, pioneered by Pierre Schaeffer. It involves the manipulation of recorded sounds from any source – environmental, instrumental, or vocal – through techniques like splicing, looping, speed alteration, and reversal. Characterized by its often non-metric, abstract rhythmic structures and experimental soundscapes, it prioritizes the sonic qualities of sounds themselves rather than traditional musical elements like melody or harmony. The mood is typically cerebral and exploratory, often challenging conventional notions of music, and it serves as a foundational precursor to various forms of electronic and experimental sound art.
