Paisley Underground-Events in Barcelona

Emerging from the Los Angeles music scene in the early 1980s, the Paisley Underground movement revived the melodic psychedelic and folk-rock aesthetics of the mid-1960s. Typical instrumentation centers on jangly Rickenbacker guitars, melodic basslines, and swirling Farfisa organs, often paired with dense vocal harmonies and consistent mid-tempo rhythms. The genre's mood oscillates between nostalgic sunshine and moody garage-rock grit, serving as a critical bridge between 1960s garage revivalism and the burgeoning American alternative rock scene. Semantically, it occupies the creative intersection of neo-psychedelia and college rock, influencing famous contemporaries such as R.E.M. while drawing heavy artistic inspiration from the Byrds, the Beatles, and the Velvet Underground.
