Tontipop-Events diesen Monat in Barcelona

Tontipop emerged from the Spanish indie scene during the late 1990s, characterized by its playful, naive aesthetic and deep roots in the Donosti Sound and British Twee Pop movements. The instrumentation typically features jangly guitars, melodic synthesizers, and simplistic percussion, supporting soft, often high-pitched vocal performances that emphasize themes of innocence and everyday nostalgia. With its upbeat tempos and catchy, bubblegum-inspired melodies, the genre maintains a bright, euphoric mood that contrasts with the more aggressive grunge and rock movements of its time. Semantically, it serves as a Mediterranean counterpart to C86 and Sarah Records' roster, prioritizing DIY sincerity and silly charm over technical complexity or commercial polish.
