Trova-Events in Barcelona

Trova originated in Cuba during the late 19th century as a form of itinerant singer-songwriter music, characterized by its reliance on the acoustic guitar and poetic lyricism. It features a fusion of Spanish folk traditions and African rhythmic nuances, often delivered at a moderate to slow tempo that emphasizes vocal storytelling over complex percussion. The genre's mood is predominantly romantic and reflective, though its evolution into the Nueva Trova movement introduced significant socio-political themes and protest elements. As a foundational pillar of Latin American music, Trova shares a deep semantic relationship with Bolero and the broader Nueva Canción movement, prioritizing melodic intimacy and linguistic artistry.
