Adult Standards-Events in Berlin

Adult standards emerged in the mid-20th century, drawing heavily from the Great American Songbook and the traditional pop vocal style popularized between the 1940s and 1960s. The genre is characterized by lush orchestral arrangements, prominent piano, and sophisticated big band instrumentation that supports smooth, crooning vocal performances. Rhythmically, it maintains a slow to moderate tempo with a focus on melodic clarity and emotional resonance, often evoking a nostalgic or romantic mood. Positioned between vocal jazz and easy listening, adult standards prioritize high production values and timeless songwriting, serving as a cornerstone for radio formats targeting mature audiences who appreciate polished, melodic balladry.
