Avant Rock-Events dieses Wochenende in Berlin

Emerging in the late 1960s, avant-rock pushed the boundaries of traditional rock by incorporating elements of the avant-garde, free jazz, and contemporary classical music. While utilizing standard rock tools like electric guitars, bass, and drums, it often integrates non-traditional instruments, tape loops, and early synthesizers to create dissonant or atonal textures. The rhythm is frequently irregular, employing complex time signatures or polyrhythms that challenge the listener's expectations of a steady groove. Its mood ranges from abrasive and confrontational to cerebral and ethereal, sitting semantically between the raw energy of punk and the intellectual rigor of academic art music.
