Berlin School-Events in Berlin

Emerging from West Berlin in the 1970s through pioneers like Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, Berlin School is a foundational electronic genre characterized by hypnotic, repetitive sequencer patterns. Typically utilizing analog synthesizers, mellotrons, and Moog sequencers, the music emphasizes layered ostinatos to create a cosmic, meditative atmosphere. While it evolved from the experimental Krautrock scene, its focus on long-form compositions and rhythmic electronic pulses directly influenced the development of modern ambient, trance, and new age music. The mood is predominantly atmospheric and surreal, often eschewing traditional song structures for evolving sonic textures that range from ethereal soundscapes to steady, motoric rhythmic sequences.
