British Post Rock-Events dieses Wochenende in Berlin

Emerging in the United Kingdom during the early 1990s through the experimental works of Talk Talk and Bark Psychosis, British post-rock represents a fundamental departure from traditional rock structures. The genre utilizes standard rock instrumentation—guitars, bass, and drums—but prioritizes texture, timbre, and atmosphere over conventional riffs, often incorporating orchestral arrangements or electronic elements. Rhythms are typically slow and sprawling, favoring patient, crescendo-based compositions that evoke deeply introspective and melancholic moods. While semantically rooted in indie and experimental rock, it rejects standard pop songcraft in favor of long-form instrumental exploration, sharing a sonic lineage with shoegaze, ambient, and krautrock.
