Classic Female Blues-Events dieses Wochenende in Berlin

Emerging in the 1920s United States, classic female blues represents a pivotal transition from oral folk traditions to the professional recording industry, primarily led by pioneering African American women. Instrumentation typically features a prominent solo vocalist accompanied by a barrelhouse piano or a small jazz ensemble including trumpet, trombone, and clarinet. Characterized by a moderate tempo and the standardized 12-bar blues structure, the genre conveys a mood of raw emotional resilience, often blending themes of heartbreak with bawdy social commentary. It serves as a crucial semantic bridge between rural country blues and urban jazz, establishing the vocal conventions that would later define swing, soul, and modern R&B.
