Digital Hardcore-Events diesen Monat in Berlin

Digital hardcore is a frantic fusion genre that emerged in the early 1990s in Berlin, primarily pioneered by Alec Empire and the band Atari Teenage Riot. It hybridizes the socio-political aggression of hardcore punk with the abrasive textures of industrial noise and the high-speed rhythmic structures of breakcore and gabber. Instrumentation typically features heavily distorted synthesizers, overdriven drum machines like the Roland TR-909, and shouted vocals, often layered with dissonant electric guitar samples. Characterized by extreme tempos and a chaotic, high-energy mood, the genre serves as a bridge between the visceral DIY ethics of the punk scene and the experimental frontiers of electronic music.
