J Metal-Events dieses Wochenende in Berlin

J-metal, or Japanese metal, originated in the late 1970s with pioneering acts like Bow Wow and Loudness, drawing heavily from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Characterized by technical guitar proficiency, rapid double-bass drumming, and often incorporating symphonic or electronic elements, the genre emphasizes high-energy arrangements and theatrical performances. The mood fluctuates between aggressive intensity and epic melodicism, frequently intersecting with the Visual Kei movement while maintaining a distinct focus on heavy distortion and complex song structures. As a regional evolution of global heavy metal, it balances traditional Western metal tropes with distinct Japanese melodic sensibilities, creating a diverse sonic landscape that ranges from power metal to extreme death metal.
