Oi-Events in Berlin

Oi! is a subgenre of punk rock that emerged in the United Kingdom during the late 1970s, specifically catering to working-class youth and skinhead subcultures. The music typically features distorted electric guitars, driving basslines, and simple, mid-tempo 4/4 drum patterns, often accompanied by shouted, anthemic vocals intended for group chanting. Musically, it simplifies the abrasive energy of early punk while incorporating the sing-along sensibilities of pub rock and football terrace culture. This genre serves as a gritty, honest bridge between traditional punk rock and the hardcore scenes, maintaining a raw, unpolished production style that reflects its street-level roots and defiant, communal spirit.
