Pagode-Events diesen Monat in Berlin

Pagode emerged in Rio de Janeiro during the late 1970s as a communal, festive evolution of traditional samba, characterized by its informal circle settings and syncopated rhythms. The genre introduced distinct instrumentation such as the tantã, repique de mão, and banjo-cavaquinho, which complemented the traditional pandeiro and acoustic guitar to create a rich, percussive texture. Typically maintaining a moderate to upbeat tempo in 2/4 time, the music evokes a joyous and celebratory mood focused on everyday life and romantic themes. While deeply rooted in the rhythmic complexity of samba, pagode emphasizes a more accessible, groove-centric approach that bridges the gap between grassroots folk traditions and contemporary Brazilian pop music.
