Street Punk-Events in Berlin

Street punk emerged in the late 1970s within the United Kingdom as a working-class reaction against the increasingly commercialized or art-focused mainstream punk movement. Characterized by a high-energy, aggressive sound, the genre typically features heavily distorted guitars, driving basslines, and fast-paced drumming with a focus on melodic but shouted vocal choruses. The lyrical themes often center on urban survival, social alienation, and class solidarity, reflecting a raw and unpolished aesthetic that stands in contrast to the polished production of pop-punk. Historically and semantically linked to the Oi! movement and hardcore punk, street punk maintains a gritty, confrontational mood that prioritizes authenticity and communal energy over technical complexity.
