Vietnamese Bolero-Events dieses Wochenende in Berlin

Vietnamese Bolero, a cornerstone of the "Nhạc vàng" tradition, emerged in South Vietnam during the 1950s by fusing Spanish-influenced Latin American rhythms with pentatonic Vietnamese folk melodies. The genre typically utilizes nylon-string guitars, soft percussion, and melancholic violins to support emotive vocal performances that explore themes of longing, wartime loss, and unrequited love. Defined by a steady, slow-tempo 4/4 rhythm with a characteristic lilting cadence, it maintains a deeply sentimental and nostalgic mood throughout. While it shares roots with broader sentimental ballads, its unique synthesis of Western ballroom structures and traditional vocal ornamentation distinguishes it as a culturally specific evolution of global Bolero styles.
